OK. Now that you have setup the
bones its time to attach your mesh to it.
Lets begin by selecting the whole mesh. Make sure your mesh is not
GROUPED, otherwise 3D Studio Max will crash.

After selecting the mesh, go to the MODIFY
menu, select PHYSIQUES. After that, click on ATTACH TO NODE
button. Now click on the Biped's COM (bip01).

This will bring up the PHYSIQUES menu.

for this model I'll use the following settings:
Rigid, N Links and deselected Envelop.
Click on INITIALIZE. You should now see few orange lines inside
the model.

Now go back to the MODIFY
menu. click the PLUS on PHYSIQUES.

Select VERTEX. this will show up all the vertices
on your model. Click on SELECT and then select all the vertices on
the head and then select ATTACH TO LINK and then click on the
yellow line that represents the HEAD bone.

Right after assign the vertices you can click on
ANIMATION
menu and check if things are working the way you want

Click on the head bone and move it around. check
if there's any vertices flying around, if that's the case, press
CTRL+Z to place the head back on its original position and then
assign the flying vertices to the correct bone.
After you're done with everything, move the bones around one more
time to find those bad vertices that are not staying where you
want.

Now its time to bring some life to your model!
